Stretching its geographical range from Mexico and the island of Trinidad all the way down through Bolivia and Argentina, this bird captures the imagination of ornithologists and local communities alike with its unique presence and elusive behavior.<\/p>\n Beyond its ecological footprint, the Four-winged Cuckoo holds a deeply significant place in Brazilian folklore. It is famously linked to the legend of Saci, a mischievous, one-legged character known for smoking a pipe. According to traditional tales, one of Saci’s most remarkable magical traits is his ability to transform directly into this elusive bird, locally known as the Matita-pere. The bird’s melancholic, haunting song often seems to echo from nowhere, enhancing its supernatural reputation.<\/p>\n One of the most intriguing fun facts about the Four-winged Cuckoo is its distinct vocalization.
