Meet the Eastern Fence Lizard

Their bellies and sides erupt in vibrant, iridescent hues reminiscent of a peacock’s tail feather, featuring striking blue-green stripes and spots designed entirely to catch the eye of potential mates.
Courtship Rituals and Territorial Showdowns
The brilliant blue bellies are not just for show; they play a crucial role in courtship and territorial defense. When two rival males meet, they engage in a mesmerizing visual standoff.
